Based on 13 years of experience delivering the EWB Challenge program, in 2020 EWB is expanding the ‘Challenge’ offering to incorporate a wider range of student experiences and potential community impact.
The EWB Challenge Series engages emerging engineers and students in associated disciplines on real-world project briefs with supporting stakeholder engagement and interactive content. It supports the development of graduates who are future-fit; equipped with professional skills and best-practice approaches required to tackle complex global challenges. The flexible Challenge platform ensures content is readily curriculum-integrated.
Visit each Challenge page to learn more about the student experience, links to community work, and key activities unique to each program.
EWB education program resources and support are designed to enable the development of engineering graduate attributes specified by the national accrediting body, Engineers Australia. These include:
Embedding EWB Challenge Series design briefs and resources into curriculum also sets the scene for students to develop 9/10 skills the World Economic Form believes are essential for the future: Complex problem solving, Critical thinking, Creativity, People management, Coordinating with others, Emotional intelligence, Judgement and decision making, and Service orientation.
EWB Australia is a leading for-purpose organisation mobilising engineers and influencing the sector to act with social purpose for the global good. With over 15 years experience, we seek to demonstrate best practice in community development, stakeholder engagement, and the design of sustainable, equitable, appropriate solutions to complex challenges.
We collaborate with academic institutions across Australia and New Zealand and engage over 10,000 university students each year alongside our community partners in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
There are plenty of ways you can join this powerful movement. For more information, visit www.ewb.org.au
The EWB Challenge is delivered in New Zealand universities in coordination with EWBNZ. EWBNZ hold the same core mission and values as EWB Australia with the intent to connect, educate and empower people through humanitarian engineering.
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is a global movement made up of many independent EWB organisations around the globe. Across countries, the key objective is to remove barriers to engineering to alleviate poverty in countries across the world. Each organisation is independent but collaboration is key to the impact of the EWB movement and that is why EWB Australia and EWB New Zealand have partnered to deliver the EWB Challenge.
